This authentic lower-end motor lodge hasn't changed in years. Not strictly a gay place to stay, but its right on the main Market Street part of the Castro. In the 70s, this place had a reputation ("leave your door open to meet a new friend") but it has tamed over the years though it still can get very busy with non-guests late at night. Many a local has awakened the next morning in one of the very simple rooms (which radiate around a balcony and parking lot) in the arms of a visiting stranger.
